OYO, known for being a couple-friendly travel booking platform, has updated its check-in policy for unmarried couples in Meerut. Starting this year, unmarried couples may no longer be allowed to check in together at OYO-partnered hotels in the city, according to a report by PTI.
Under the new guidelines, OYO has granted its partner hotels the discretion to accept or reject bookings from couples based on their judgment, in accordance with local social norms. Couples will now be required to provide valid proof of relationship during check-in for all bookings, including those made online.
“OYO is dedicated to maintaining safe and responsible hospitality standards. While we respect individual freedoms, we also acknowledge our obligation to cooperate with law enforcement and local civil society groups in the regions we operate,” said Pawas Sharma, Region Head, OYO North India, as quoted by PTI.
