Situated in the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru, Radisson Blu Atria is blessed to receive business from the customer-driven market 100 to 200 days a year, on an average. In conversation with the owner Kaushik about the design of hotel, we are informed, “One of the biggest complaints most of these people had were about their flight schedules and limited sleep while travelling due to the time zone difference and stress levels the body goes through with constant travel. With this in mind, we realised that our design should enable guests to relax as well as achieve optimal sleep while they stay here.”

To overcome these problems and ensure the comfort levels of the guests, the upcoming science of chromo-therapy was used, which adjusts the body vibrations to frequencies that result in good health and harmony. The colours that have been used possess frequencies of a magnitude, and each vibration is related to a different physical symptom – resulting in a healing effect on the user. The effort was for the guests to achieve optimal sleep, which is reflected in the interiors. The spaces decorated with wood leaves a warm and earthy effect on guests landing at any hour.

Says Domenico de Palo, “I actually started off as a lighting designer, and I really studied the importance of light and its ability to dictate emotions in people.” Hence, these fixtures have been crafted to have a relaxing and recreational effe3ct. Magenta enhances the quality of sleep, helps with physical and mental well-being, making the inhabitant calmer during emotional disturbances; while blue in the public areas bring out an illusion of night and relate to self-expression, speech and communication. The ability to communicate our needs and requirements, forges a spirit of truth and purpose. It is commendable how a relaxing environment is achieved by potentially using different luminaries in different spaces according to their hierarchy of intimacy in the hotel.
