Hyatt Regency Delhi has appointed Shrikant Wakharkar as the General Manager and Area Vice president of Hyatt Hotels – North. He brings with him over 30 years of experience and will lead the hotel’s operations, oversee strategic and tactical growth strategies along with spearheading innovative programs which are aimed at further strengthening the position of the hotel.
Wakharkar has a wealth of knowledge from various management positions held by him in India. Before stepping into his role as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Delhi, he was the General Manager at Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty. In his previous roles, he has held leadership positions at Taj, Intercontinental, Starwood and Marriott Hotels.
This would be his second innings with Hyatt Regency Delhi as he has previously been a part of this flagship hotel and held the position of Assistant Director of Food and Beverage back in 1999. He has extensive experience and wide-reaching knowledge of hospitality including restaurant pre-openings, hotel up-gradation/renovation projects, sales generation and sustaining significant bottom-line results.
A graduate of the Institute of Hotel Management, Bhubaneshwar, he also attended three professional development programs at Cornell University. “I am delighted to be back at this iconic hotel for my second innings which has been the harbinger of F&B innovation in the country,” said Wakharkar. He hopes to use his extensive experience to create memorable guest experiences and set new benchmarks for Hyatt Regency Delhi.
Apart from his work, he enjoys travelling and exploring different cuisines. He also loves to participate in marathons and believes that being fit really helps him unwind and stay focused.
