Jaisalmer more attractive for investment

(NULL)

Hotels looking to tap Jaisalmer’s heritage tourists, only held back by the lack of connectivity into the state will be happy to learn that the city is likely to have an airport by the end of the year.

So far dominated by charter flights, scheduled flights into Jaisalmer could mean room for setting up hotels there. Until now, most tourists and business travellers have used Jodhpur as a base, undertaking only day trips to Jaisalmer.

According to the Airports Authority of India, the construction of the civil airport is well underway at Jaisalmeri Shilp Kala which is less than 10 km from the Jaisalmer district headquarters. It is expected to be up and running by December.
