The Dusit Thani Dubai and Accor Australia which have been designing market specific brand specifications in terms of language of literature and in-room and restaurant dining options have their strategies right – according to PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) the Asian powerhouses are to continue in their proven track record of tourism growth.
Arrivals from India and China into Asia Pacific during the first half of 2011 has reportedly seen a growth of 12.9% and 18.1% respectively, indicating an overall 5% increase in arrivals to the region in the same period.
Indian arrivals to neighbouring South Asian nations have increased by 47.5% and Chinese arrivals to South and Southeast Asia have grown by 58.0% and 44.2% respectively.
Interestingly, the ‘look online, book offline’ trend appears to continue. According to PATA, in India, 57% of travellers use an internet search engine and 45% use an online travel agent to source for their information.
