Langham Hospitality Group has signed an agreement with Lavasa Corporation, part of Hindustan Construction Corporation, to manage two 200-room properties in Lavasa. Under the agreement Langham will launch two of its hotel brands – Langham Place and Eaton Smart – in the hill city of Lavasa.
The properties which will open in 2013 will form part of the second phase in the ‘walkable city’ of Mugaon. The development’s key focus will be on R&D centres, tourism and corporate and educational campuses. Langham Hospitality CEO Brett Butcher who was in India to sign the agreement, said: “India is one of the most exciting hospitality frontiers in the world today. We’re bullish as there are opportunities to expand at multiple levels for the luxury Langham brands and the upscale and midscale Eaton brands which will also have strong domestic appeal.”
Lavasa corporation executive vice president Nathan Andrews commented, “Langham Hotels brings significant value to the Lavasa project. Their ecofriendly principles and the calibre of the hotel operations across the globe mirror the values we want to see in our new development.”
Other Langham openings in India include the an Eaton Smart at New Delhi Airport scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2011, positioned as a transit property, followed by a Langham Place in Pune which is expected to open later this year.
