What does your job entail on a daily basis?
I ensure that both our external as well as internal patrons are provided with world class F&B services. Delivering customer delight, coordination, great leadership and teamwork are of utmost importance while on the job.
What is the best part of this job?
Catering to unique and unusual requests is an exciting part of the job. Also I strongly believe that flexibility, being extroverted and having the right attitude, will march you towards success.
What part of the job do you not like and how do you motivate yourself to do it?
A customer giving unrealistic excuses for compensations is something that doesn’t make me too happy. Dedication and empowerment given by Marriott as a brand is a huge factor that always motivates me to deliver my best.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you at work?
During the beginning of my career in the hospitality industry, I was asked to wear a cartoon character’s attire for a kids get-together. Well, I didn’t expect so many kicks and slaps from so many kids at one time.
When was the last time you watched a movie in a theatre? Which one was it?
Marriott is the brand that believes in balancing your personal and professional life. Coincidentally I have watched two new movies Khatta Meetha and Inception during my week off.
How do you unwind after a long, hard day at work?
My idea of relaxing is rather simple, I go home and relax over a cup of tea with my family.
Which celebrities have you met at work and what were they like?
Prince Charles – The name says it all. Manmohan Singh – Humble man. Disciplined and punctual. Tina Turner – Very jovial and an extrovert personality.
Which is your favourite hotel in the world?
JW Marriott, Mumbai – This property is always lively and buzzing. What a grand feeling as soon as you see the façade outside or visit the lobby.
What is your motto in life?
Be truthful and give the best out of you. Believe me, success will always follow you.
What would you be doing if you were not in the hotel industry?
I would have been running a fitness centre.
What is your dream destination and activity for a holiday?
Switzerland or Langkawi.
