Advantage Chhattisgarh summit being held today

ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India), in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh government, has organised a summit on Advantage Chhattisgarh – Land of Opportunities today at Hotel Babylon International in Raipur.

More than 300 investors from India and abroad will participate in the day-long event. It is expected that the state will receive an investment of Rs 12000-13000 crore during the summit.The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Raman Singh at Hotel Babylon International at 10:00 am today.

Chhattisgarh is becoming one of the most favoured destinations for investment in India with its state-of-art, infrastructure to accelerate socio economic development. The current industrial policy provides the requisite thrust for rapid industrialization and employment opportunities. The State of Chhattisgarh has tremendous potential to become manufacturing and service hub in the country. The futuristic initiatives are likely to generate a conducive ecosystem for setting greenfield projects in both high-tech and traditional sectors.

ASSOCHAM will also facilitate on the spot signing of MOUs/EOIs of proposals of prospective investors apart from helping them for obtaining necessary clearances through single window facility or ‘Facilitation Cell’ specially being established in ASSOCHAM on the suggestion by the Chief Minister.

The objective of summit is to augment investment in the state using cluster development model for SMEs and MSMEs besides Medium and Large industries in some of the important sectors of the downstream industry sector such as agriculture, textile, forestry products including traditional medicines, tourism, IT/ITes, BPOs, herbal, infrastructure, housing, skill development/HRD etc. Assocham believes that supporting small and medium sized industries will improve the market share in the globally competitive market which will also lead to generating employment opportunities.

Some of the suggested sectors where the state government would encourage investments are given in ‘Investment Sectors in Chhattisgarh’ .Some of the prominent industrialist already prospering in the State would also be participating in the summit to share their experience on working in Chhattisgarh.

The Summit will provide interactive platform to the potential investors and business delegates to have direct one to one discussions with the decision makers and senior state functionaries to initiate the process of setting up new units in the state.
