Six Senses London has opened at The Whiteley on Bayswater’s Queensway, marking the brand’s first property in the UK. The hotel brings together Six Senses’ philosophy of wellness, sustainability, and emotional hospitality with British craftsmanship in a new urban sanctuary.
Located near Hyde Park and Notting Hill, the property features 109 rooms and suites, many with private terraces, along with 14 branded residences. Interiors blend expansive windows, glass rain showers, warm woods, inky blues, and Art Deco curves. The Whiteley Suite crowns the hotel with a 125-square-metre roof terrace and the option of a private floor.
Nick Yarnell, General Manager of Six Senses London, commented: “We wanted Six Senses London to feel like a hotel that embraces you from the moment you arrive. Warm, genuine, and instinctive, yet delivered with exacting standards and quiet precision. As part of The Whiteley, we honour the heritage of British craft and innovation while creating something that gives back to the neighbourhood and feels deeply connected to its community.”

Belonging by Design
Six Senses London is designed as a place of discovery, where spaces unfold thoughtfully as guests move through them. Created by AvroKO with EPR Architects, the design preserves the Whiteley’s Grade II listed façade and Art Deco heritage, drawing inspiration from William Whiteley’s fascination with the Great Exhibition of 1851.
At its heart stands the restored grand staircase; once the centrepiece of the original department store—carefully rebuilt in Devon by Foster + Partners with The Hub, rising across three floors to a striking glass-domed ceiling.
Adam Farmerie, Partner of AvroKO, commented: “Six Senses London draws from the visual language of the Great Exhibition era, which often relied on black and white contrast. Rather than replicate that palette, we introduced deep greens into the lobby marble and architectural detailing, reframing the period through a natural lens. Vitrines remain, but plant life now occupies them. Transparency, from the staircase to the glass shower pods in the rooms, allows light to move freely through the building and shifts the emporium from spectacle to immersion.”
Stilling the City, Stirring the Soul
Six Senses Spa London spans 2,300 square metres and is designed to balance movement and rest. Facilities include London’s first hotel magnesium pool, a 20-metre indoor pool, a 325-square-metre fitness centre, yoga studios, and wellness spaces offering cryotherapy, flotation, red-light therapy, and a traditional hammam. The Biohack Recovery Lounge further supports performance and recovery with advanced therapies.
An integrated Wellness Centre provides private consultations and functional screenings focused on sleep, metabolic health, cognitive performance, and stress management. The Alchemy Bar, led by Charlotte Pulver, transforms locally foraged herbs into tinctures and tonics. The hotel has also partnered with HUM2N, founded by Dr. Mohammed Enayat, offering advanced diagnostics, IV therapy, hormone optimisation, and a hyperbaric chamber.
British Craft, Maverick Spirit
Wellness shapes the entire guest journey at Six Senses London, including its culinary philosophy. Guided by the Eat With Six Senses principles, Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café celebrates seasonal, locally sourced ingredients through a modern take on British cuisine inspired by William Whiteley’s spirit of innovation.
Executive Chef Eliano Crespi and Head Chef Jose Jara present vegetable-forward menus with fire-led cooking and house-made ferments prepared in a dedicated fermentation lab. At the bar, cocktails are crafted with or without alcohol, including the signature Clouds Over Islay, while the wine programme highlights British producers and independent growers aligned with the kitchen’s seasonal approach.

The World’s First Six Senses Place
Above the lobby sits the world’s first Six Senses Place. As a social and wellness members’ club, it extends the brand’s reconnection philosophy into an urban context, offering space to switch off and engage in experiences that feel restorative rather than performative.
Programming follows the Almanac, intentional throughout the year, aligning gatherings with seasonal shifts and cultural rhythms, alongside talks and shared meals which explore self-development and reflective healing practices.
Nature Woven Into the City
Six Senses blends wellness, sustainability, and emotional hospitality with thoughtfully crafted experiences. The brand’s Earth Lab demonstrates its hands-on approach to conservation, hosting workshops on repurposing and botanical preparation, while 0.5 percent of hotel revenue supports community and environmental initiatives through the Regenerative Impact Fund.
Six Senses London is part of the BREEAM-certified redevelopment of The Whiteley and operates without single-use plastic. Sustainability measures include rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient systems, and over 1,150 square metres of green roof space that enhances biodiversity and urban cooling, with the British butterfly adopted as the hotel’s symbolic mascot.
A Renewal, a Return
The Whiteley London is a mixed-use development spanning over one million square feet, featuring 139 homes, more than 60,000 square feet of amenities, and 19 commercial brands alongside the Six Senses hotel. Redeveloped by Valouran with investment partners MARK and C C Land and designed by Foster + Partners, it forms part of the wider £3 billion regeneration of Queensway. The hotel has also created more than 300 jobs across hospitality, wellness, and culinary roles.
Six Senses London has partnered with Lotus, with a custom Lotus Eletre serving as the hotel’s house car, offering guests a refined way to move through the city.
