The Westin Jaipur Kant Kalwar Resort and Spa, designed by GPM Architects & Planners, marks the arrival of Marriott International’s landmark 200th property in India, located in Rajasthan’s Pink City. Spread across a sprawling 9-acre site at the foothills of the Aravalli hills, the resort also represents the Manglam Group’s debut in the hospitality sector.
Envisioned as an experience-driven destination, the resort is designed to welcome both tourists and local residents seeking a relaxed weekend escape. The focus has been on creating a family-friendly environment with facilities for all age groups, while maintaining a calm, wellness-oriented atmosphere across the property.
A contemporary reinterpretation beyond traditional Rajasthani architecture
Moving away from the traditional Rajasthani architectural lens, GPM Architects and Planners crafted a design inspired by Balinese architecture and interpreted it through a contemporary lens. While the visual language steps into a different stylistic direction, it remains deeply rooted in cultural sensitivity and responds closely to its natural context. Lush tropical planting and water-led spaces shape the guest experience, offering a calm contrast to the pace of city life.
Planning for balance, privacy, and climate comfort
The resort is strategically planned to balance user activity, privacy, and climate comfort. Public and private zones are thoughtfully arranged, with water bodies acting as gentle transitions while also supporting passive cooling during Jaipur’s intense summers. Local materials and an environmentally conscious landscape give the property its character, while the open layout encourages ease of movement and visual connection across the site.
Sustainability through climate-responsive design
Sustainability has been approached through natural air and water circulation, shaded walkways, and climate-responsive design strategies that help maintain comfortable microclimates. During construction, an on-site nursery was established to grow plants that reduce the heat island effect, alongside plans for a herb and vegetable garden to support the resort’s culinary needs.
