IHG Hotels and ZHPL ink MOU for new 350-room luxury project in Mumbai

InterContinental-led project proposed in Mumbai’s fast-growing western region.

Zon Hotels Mumbai Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between SanRaj Group and DGS Group, has initiated discussions with IHG Hotels & Resorts for an upcoming luxury hotel in Mumbai’s Western suburbs. The parties have entered into a non-binding MOU for the upcoming 350-room hotel project, focused on a luxury brand such as InterContinental.

The association will mark a significant milestone in the expansion of global hospitality brands across Mumbai’s Western Region business corridors and will reinforce SanRaj Group’s strategic role in onboarding international hospitality operators.

Formal signing details

The MOU was formally signed on January 21 at 4:00 pm at the Holiday Inn, Mumbai. It was executed by Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, representing the global hospitality group and Rajdip Gupta, Director, representing Zon Hotels (Mumbai) Pvt Ltd. Zon Hotels (Mumbai) Pvt Ltd is promoted by its Directors – Sandip Gupta, Rajdip Gupta, Ishwar Shukla, and Rohit Shukla.

This non-binding MOU signals the intent of Zon Hotels Mumbai to construct a leading luxury hotel in India. It is anticipated that the hotel will begin construction post execution of the definitive Hotel Management Agreement after completion of the appropriate diligence, planning and subsequent approvals within Zon Hotels and IHG.

Developers on the western Mumbai opportunity

Commenting on the development, Sandip Gupta and Rajdip Gupta said, “Western Region of Mumbai is fast emerging as an important commercial and business hub in Mumbai, supported by improved infrastructure and growing corporate activity. The project highlights the growing trend of collaboration between Indian developers and global hotel operators as international brands expand their footprint in high-growth urban micro-markets.
