Swiggy launches ‘No Added Sugar’ category to promote mindful eating

Expands healthy food options across 10 cities with over 1.5 lakh items and 50,000 restaurants.

Swiggy today reiterated its focus on healthy food with the launch of its new ‘No Added Sugar’ category, designed to make mindful and healthy eating simpler and more accessible for consumers. They can choose from more than 1.5 lakh food items and over 50,000 restaurants.

The No Sugar Category is live across 10 cities including Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune. Swiggy will be expanding this to more cities in the coming weeks. This launch follows the launch of the High Protein category announced in July this year.

Two key sub-categories: Naturally Sweetened and Not Sweetened

The No Added Sugar category features two key sub-categories i.e., Naturally Sweetened and Not Sweetened, offering a variety of popular items such as no added sugar ice creams, cakes, pastries, Indian sweets, tea, coffee and more. Each food and beverage item listed in this category is curated to help consumers enjoy their favourite flavours while avoiding added sugar.

The Naturally Sweetened sub-category features items prepared with ingredients like dates, whole fruits, and purees, including Date & Nut Smoothie, Banana Pancakes, Apple Cinnamon Oats, and Fig & Almond Energy Bars. The Not Sweetened sub-category contains sugarless options for Tea, Coffee, and Juices.

Extensive variety across cities

The selection features over 20,000 ice creams, over 12,000 juices, over 10,000 hot beverages i.e., Tea and Coffee, and over 7,000 cakes across the 10 cities. Free sugars such as sucrose, jaggery, honey, and other highly processed sweeteners have been excluded to ensure the category aligns with contemporary health and nutrition standards.

We believe mindful eating shouldn’t mean missing out. That’s why we launched the ‘No Added Sugar’ category, packed with delicious food and beverage items made only with natural or approved low-calorie sweeteners. This is just the start. We are committed to constantly adding new dishes, expanding to more cities and improving the product basis customer feedback. Looking ahead, we also intend to enhance transparency by clearly outlining the source of the sweetener—be it dates, monk fruit, or others—ensuring you always make the most informed choice.
