Kumari Selja, Union minister for tourism and poverty alleviation, feels a golden tourism triangle in the South on par with the Delhi-Agra-Jaipur route in the North, is a workable idea.
One route proposed is between the upcoming mega projects in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. AP’s projects are in Charminar, Tirupati and Kadapa, while Hampi and Mammalapuram are potential candidates in Karnataka and TN respectively.
“Each state must have a vision and an integrated project plan that it submits to the Centre rather than present piecemeal proposals”, she said at the meeting of South India’s tourism ministers in Bengaluru recently.
