In his new capacity, Kumar Shobhan aims to continue the legacy of the hotel and his main focus will be bringing in innovative concepts in food & beverage, social events and enhancing the overall experience for the guests and colleagues. As general manager of Hyatt Regency Kolkata, he looks forward to an exciting time ahead, keeping in mind to the proposed refurbishment/renovation of the critical areas of the hotel.
Kumar Shobhan has spent more than 19 years in the hospitality industry in a number of remarkable roles – from food & beverage to rooms and spa and catering. His last assignment was as a pre-opening General Manager for Hyatt Regency Lucknow. Kumar is elated with his new assignment in the City of Joy. For him it’s home-coming because of his bong connection and his stint at Hyatt Regency Kolkata as director of operation in 2016. Kumar started his career in August 2000 as a food & beverage associate at Hyatt Regency Delhi. After a brief stint outside Hyatt, he returned to serve the hotel brand again in December 2006. A year later, he was promoted to director – food & beverage at Hyatt Regency Delhi. Following that, Kumar Shobhan went on to hold similar operational roles with Hyatt in various Indian cities before moving to Lucknow in 2017.
