CITCO cancels five-star hotel plan

The proposed five-star hotel planned by Chandigarh Industrial & Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) has been stalled for now.

The three acre property was supposed to come up near the Chandigarh-Ambala highway.

The project was the brainchild of JS Bir, former Managing Director, CITCO and the then administrator SF Rodrigues, administrator Gen (retd).

According to a report in The Times of India, D K Tiwari, Managing Director, CITCO confirmed that the plan to come up with a five-star hotel in the industrial area had been cancelled.

A decision to scrap the project was taken in view of high conversion fee that CITCO would have to pay for seeking a change in land use of the plot that is being used as an iron and steel store.
