Air India flights to Agatti-Chennai

Air India has started operations from Chennai to Agatti in the Lakshadweep islands six days a week from September 24, 2010.

Agatti is the 64th destination on the domestic network of Air India. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the ATR flight IC 7501/7502 will operate on the Chennai-Kochi-Agatti-Kochi-Chennai route and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays the airline will operate flight IC 7503/7504 on the Chennai- Bengaluru – Agatti – Bengaluru – Chennai route.

The operation of the service on this sector is expected to give a major boost to tourism to the scenic islands. Passengers travelling from Delhi and Mumbai to Agatti will get same day connections in both directions at Bengaluru.

The airline is also upgrading services to tier II cities by providing jet aircraft instead of the formerly operated turbo prop services.

The flight between Delhi and Dehradun, presently being operated with ATR aircraft is being operated with 122-seater Airbus A-319 aircraft from September 22, 2010. The flight will offer eight seats in executive class and 114 seats in economy class. Also the flight on the Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Delhi route will also be upgraded to operate with a 70 seater CRJ aircraft.

The A-319 flight IC463 will now leave Delhi at 0935 hrs and arrive at Dehradun at 1030 hrs. The return flight IC464 will now depart from Dehradun at 1110 hrs and return to Delhi at 1200 hrs.

The CRJ flight IC7801 will now leave Delhi at 1400 hrs and arrive at Kanpur at 1450 hrs, depart from Kanpur at 1520 hrs to land at Allahabad at 1545 hrs. On the final leg the flight will leave Allahabad at 1615 hrs and arrive back at Delhi at 1730 hrs.
