A batch of 12 bakers graduated from Puratos Sanskaar Foundation School. The graduation day ceremony was held at Regenza by Tunga. This Navi Mumbai-based non-profit bakery school run by Puratos India presents this fully trained batch of underprivileged children skilled in bakery expertise who are set to chart out their career in the bakery world.
Puratos India is a subsidiary of Puratos International Group, which is a bakery, patisserie and chocolate ingredients manufacturer. These students were part of a two-year course where they learnt various baking techniques ranging from making simple breads to putting together complex cakes and desserts.
Peter Deriemaeker, markets director, AMEA, Puratos shared, “Within Asia, India is under a special spotlight for many sectors. Bakery, patisserie and chocolate are segments with a high demand from every city. At the same time, we realised a shortage of specialised professionals. With this endeavor, we wanted to bring in our international expertise to the Indian market and make a difference to everyone in the bakery value chain from bakers, employers, employees to the ardent bakery consumers.”
Dhiren Kanwar, MD, India and area director, South Asia, Puratos Food Ingredients India, said, “Given India’s burgeoning love of bakery, patisserie and chocolate items, there can’t be a better time than now to meet this demand and give to the bakery world, those trained professionals who love what they do and know the exact nuances of their work. With a batch graduating for the second consecutive year, we are sure to add the right value and fill the skill void that existed for all these years.”
The entire batch of 12 students have already been recruited and given job placements with leading bakeries such as Pantry Hospitality, Pastry Point, Oven Fresh, Star Anis, Dr. Brown Confectionery, Burgers & More, and Chococircle. Two students will work with Puratos India.
