The Gowardhan milk and cheese brand is launching three new product offshoots in a few months; a longer lasting paneer, shredded mozzarella and cheese paste.
The brand, part of Mumbai-based Parag Milk Foods, is making a determined foray in to Indian hospitality. It is strong in Western Maharashtra and Gujarat and is planning to move in to the North and South soon.
“We make high quality products in our fully automated Pune plant. A lot of our produce is exported to China and South East Asia. We feel we now have a good product line at a great value offering for Indian hospitality,” said Devendra Shah, chairman, Parag Milk Foods.
Using new processing technology, the paneer will have a shelf life of three months. The shredded mozzarella is for ease of use and the paste will be in tubes. All three products are between two and three months from launch.
The company is also setting up a five lakh tonne processing plant in Chittur, Andhra Pradesh. Scheduled to launch on March 16 this year, it will process Gowardhan’s staple products; butter, ghee and milk powder.
