Bathroom supplies that save

The investment in water conserving products can seem high but end up paying for themselves in the long run. Here are some bath and sanitary fittings that do that extra bit

Duravit’s Architec

Duravit has added a new generation to its Architec collection. The Architec range, by designer and architect Frank Huster for the popular Architec range, changes the perspective on urinals.

The urinal in Huster’s design springs from the centre of a rectangular wall-mounted object. The lip is at the normal height of 70 cm above the floor but the generously proportioned 38 x 66.5 cm back of the urinal extends much lower, making it possible to adapt to existing inlet and outlet holes from earlier plumbing.

The location of these holes can vary considerably, with the outlet usually being situated between 32 and 43 cm and the inlet 77.5 to 93.5 cm from the floor. In this respect in particular the new range comes up trumps: the back of the urinal has enough room for a connection with a flexible pipe.

The urinal hides the traces of the old system behind a hygienic white façade. With either a classic flushing rim or modern flushing jet, inlet from behind or above.

Watertile shower sprays

Kohler introduces the Watertile™ shower sprays, a new concept in custom showering.

The WaterTile eliminates the protrusions of typical bodysprays and rids the showering space of visual clutter to create a clean look in the bathrooms. The unique design makes it possible to install the WaterTile bodysprays in a number of different ways in the showering space: on the wall, ceiling or at an angle at the intersection of wall and ceiling.

Besides the bodyspray, the WaterTile offering also includes a wall-mount showerhead, using the same technology and design. Both models, the WaterTile bodyspray and the showerhead are available in two different spray intensities: a 54-nozzle spray that offers soothing hydrotherapy and a 22-nozzle spray with a high volume stimulating spray pattern.

Waterless urinal by Duravit

For the advocates of the waterless model, Duravit has now developed McDry, a fully ceramic urinal featuring innovative Duravit technology.

The waterless model is a meaningful and inexpensive solution and is hygienic, environmentally friendly and economical.

McDry’s innovative shape and pore- free surface offers dirt and bacteria little opportunity to get a hold.

Contact-free use is another plus point for hygiene. The quick and easy installation principle is another benefit in McDry’s favour. There are no more installation costs for water pipes, flushing mechanisms or rinsing water. The siphon is made from ceramic material and will therefore last a lifetime.

The ceramic siphon of the urinal is filled with the special McDry Blue sealing liquid especially developed by Duravit that keeps unpleasant odours at bay and thus works just like a conventional siphon trap.

Duravit uses technology

An electronic control system on Duravit urinals combines innovative sensor technology with intelligent flushing. The sensor has been designed specially for Architec and identifies the urinal being used. The sensor measures a number of parameters. It can recognise changes in the siphon and will then automatically trigger a flushing operation. Three different flushing programs can be set. The standard program uses three litres of water, the second program alternates between a full flush with three litres and a reduced flush with just one litre and the eco program for places, where utilisation comes in surges, which runs a full flush only every 15 minutes.

These intelligent programs are selected by means of a supplied magnetic key which is run past the sensor on the side of the urinal and signals the setting acoustically.

Roof Drainage System

Geberit Pluvia is a leading syphonic roof drainage system used throughout the world. Geberit Pluvia uses the ingenious gravity induced vacuum principle to create a syphonicaction, which allow the complete drainage of a roof area with smaller diameter pipes than used in a conventional gravity system. The Geberit Pluvia requires no slope in pipe work and less site work. The system requires fewer pipes and fittings, less space and has a self cleaning action.
