Winkler has 27 years of experience handling different assignments across the world. He started his career in 1982 with the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski, Munich.

Stephan joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 2001, as deputy general manager of Sheraton Heliopolis Hotel, Towers & Casino, Cairo, a post he held for almost three years.
