RK Puri, Secretary General of the Hotel Association of India, has been elected for a third consecutive term to the Board of Directors of the International Hotel and Restaurant Association (IH&RA) at its 48th Annual General Assembly held last month at Lausanne, Switzerland. Puri will serve on the IH&RA Board for two years from 2011 to 2013.
The International Hotel and Restaurant Association is the only global business organization representing the Hospitality Industry worldwide for 140 years since 1869. Recognized by the United Nations, IH&RA monitors and lobbies all international agencies on behalf of the hospitality industry – estimated to include 300,000 hotels and 8 million restaurants worldwide, employing 60 million people and contributing 950 billion US dollars to the global economy.
