How the corporates are helping hotels achieve their target revenues much before the deadline

With their year-end parties, award and reward functions

Ajay Sampige, Assistant Vice President Royal Orchid Hotels, Bangalore.

The relationship between corporate organizations and Hotels have always been mutually complementing.  Corporate spends are like a thumb rule gauge for us to anticipate demand. We felt the pinch during and just after the pandemic when they decided to continue working from remote locations and we are seeing a difference in our revenues now with all of them actively organising team building sessions, award ceremonies and other events for employee engagement There has been a pent up travel and engagement programmes especially in the corporate sector. Making the employees comfortable and welcome back to work has been one of the prime focuses for them. In the month of October and November, we have seen companies organizing employee town halls, HR conclaves and employee recognition sessions and elaborate ceremonies. All the events were done in fact in aberration to the usual dinner and drinks.

Hotels have been mandated to organise fun, themed set-ups, team building activities and do up the space with props and entertainers for all these events.  With this, the targets of Q4 of 2022 were achieved up-to almost 70% and in some cases we have exceeded expectations for October and November. Even for the month of December we have a fair amount of bookings already. Corporates right now are partnering with star hotels for even their regular Friday lunches and boxed meals as part of their employee appreciation policy. We have even been mandated to organize what was called an “every day party” at the office premise. As the hospitality partner we catered the Breakfast, Lunch and Hi-Tea. Fun themed props, juice stations, local snacks and chats were also part of the set up. There were also fun items like colourful doughnuts, pastries and savouries.

Another company had called us in to manage their “Fun Friday” where our team had set up stations for live interactive cooking, Cocktail making sessions and other such activities at their office premise.

In addition to this, corporations have booked our Banquet Halls for their employee engagement meetings with concert like dinners filled with fun, entertainment and team building exercises. In all, the hospitality sector has been fortunate to have seen this domestic demand from local established MNC’s which has been a great boost for the industry and the morale of the staff in hospitality.
