In this role, Saurabh Thakur will be assisting the general manager in overseeing the operations of the hotel which has 164 rooms, 4 food and beverage outlets, meeting and banqueting space that can accommodate up to 1000 people at a given time, a fully equipped fitness centre, swimming pool and spa.
On his appointment he said, “I had heard a lot about Chandigarh as one of the most beautiful cities in the country which is well on its way to becoming a leading metropolis. With JW Marriott Chandigarh leading the city’s charge from the hospitality perspective, it gives me immense happiness to be joining the market leader. I feel honoured to be a part of this family and work as a director of operations at JW Marriott Chandigarh. This is my first assignment in the northern market and with new set of challenges; I am determined to exceed the guest expectations.”
Thakur began his career in the year 2005 as a management trainee with Hyatt Regency Mumbai from where he moved to Hyatt Regency Delhi in November 2006 as assistant restaurant manager. In a career spanning nearly 14 years, Thakur has held various positions at different properties across India and has worked his way up as a director of operations. This includes stints at Hilton Janak Puri, Delhi as restaurant manager, The Westin Gurgaon- Starwood Hotels as manager-restaurants and bar which was followed by a stint at The Westin Gurgaon- Starwood Hotels as manager-banquets operations.
After spells in Mumbai and Delhi NCR, in 2015, Thakur moved to Bengaluru to take charge as the food and beverage Manager at Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park- Marriott International and Legacy Starwood. His last assignment prior to joining JW Marriott Chandigarh was at Sheraton Grand Whitefield Bengaluru and Convention Centre- Marriott International where he was appointed as the director of food and beverage in November 2016.
