K B Kachru, the dynamic hotelier who brought the brand into India 25 years ago, shares with us his winning mantras and vision:
Celebrating The Silver Jubilee: “The foundation was laid 25 years ago, but it was the team that consolidated it, wanting it to grow faster and better. The edifice that was built over two decades ago will help us grow better and stronger.”
Our Biggest Wins: “Come from the vision the company had about emerging markets. We realised that a substantial part of India’s GDP will come from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. It actually happened and 50 % of our portfolio today is from these cities. Our company had the vision to do that.”
Our Future Goals: “Today, you’ll find a Radisson hotel every four hours of drivable distance in India. We want to reduce that gap to every three hours in 10 years from now. Our aim is to see what our target market wants, and meet expectations of what is relevant even after 10 years. Although we recognise that India is primarily a mid and upscale-market economy, there is a good emerging niche for upper upscale and luxury segment. We want our guests to remember us for the memorable experience we deliver across the various segments we operate in today and also bring in our other luxury ‘Collection’ brand to South Asia. We want to continue to align ourselves with the Government’s economic growth objectives.”
