CSR effort bags Guinness World Record

A group of chefs from Madurai has whipped up the world’s longest dosa, measuring 48.25 feet (14.7m), that set a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.Officials from the Guinness Book of World records were present when the dosa was made.

Chef Damoranan, a member of the Madurai Hotels’ Association, along with his crew of 20 dosa makers, broke the previous record of the Vijayawada Hotel owners Association measuring 38.2 feet (11.6m) long.

The dosa-making effort was part of the food festival organised at the Tamukkam Ground with support from Madurai Hotels’ Association.

The event was a means towardings fundraising for government schools and orphanages. The record winning dosa demanded customised kitchen equipment: a 61-feet dosa pan had been made and fitted to a special steel table. The weight of the pan was 900 kg, according to hosts.The huge quantity of batter required to make the Guinness dosa, about 1,500 kg of it, was provided by Hotel Temple City.
