Townsend brings the 90’s era with a contemporary touch to Jaipur

The amalgamation of the eclectic grandeur of the bygone era along with contemporary finesse that is untouched by modernity, Townsend’s location stands at the historically significant point where the pink city ends, and the rustic era begins. The design of the building pays tribute to the industrial era from the early 1800’s reminiscent of the ornate arches and extensive use of metal and stone. Townsend aims at recreating the ambience of the 90’s era but with a panache of molecular gastronomy.

“Townsend was launched with a mission to awaken the world to the existence of sustainable creation and culturally rich craftsmanship, it was built by the Peelwa family’s great grandsons Deep Singh Peelwa and Himmat Peelwa in dedication to their late grandfather Lieutenant Colonel Gulab Singh, who was the front-line commander & a battalion in the Second World War for ‘Jaipur Infantry’ and ‘Sawai man guards. Townsend trusts in giving everyone a place to celebrate life’s special moments by offering the best food, service, and ambiance in Jaipur,” said Sudeep Mehta, founder of Townsend.

As a tribute to those who fought the Second World War, Townsend houses original black and white images showcasing pictorial representations of many untold stories during those days. Not only this, but all the craftsmen were also rewarded with a silver coin post the completion of the project.

With sustainability at the forefront, the restro bar maintains a focus on building an ethical food and dining ecosystem by incorporating the concept of economical construction by employing all recycled wood, renewable iron, installation of solar panels, using recycled water and a no plastic policy.

Sharing the names of some signature dishes served at Townsend, Head chef Sudhir Rajak said that it would include Chennai Chicken Biryani, Mutton Gilafi Kebab, Beetroot Tartare , Fungi Ramen and Kung Ten Prawns Roll. Amongst their cocktails, their bestsellers include: Aged old fashioned, Shamrock, Alcohol caviar and Bitter sweet symphony. They also serve the best and an assorted range of alcohol, from Oraku to Yamazaki and a different cocktail and food special daily.
