RYU, an Asian-themed bar and diner, opened its doors to patrons at 32nd Milestone in Gurugram. The resto-bar is the brainchild of Shyam Thakur, who has created theme-based bars and nightclubs in Malaysia.
His partner in the Indian venture is serial entrepreneur Gagan Anand.
Together, they have created RYU with an aim to bring Oriental delicacies from all across Asia on a platter to Indian guests.
At the launch event on 18th March, 2021, guests were treated to special performances by DJ Shadow along with DJ Mannu and DJ Muneca. They also sampled the cocktails at the resto-bar, which Thakur claimed is not available anywhere else in India.
A casual diner by day and a nightclub after sunset, RYU doubles up as a culinary and party destination. Its interiors are deeply inspired by the cultures of Japan, China, and Malaysia.
This is reflected in the Japanese umbrella-inspired shades that dot the rooftop.
