Zurich’s seventh “Art in the Park” outdoor exhibition is on till August 10, 2011, in the private park of the city’s renowned Baur au Lac.
The show is created and curated by Gigi Kracht, the wife of Andrea Kracht, the hotel’s sixth-generation owner. This year’s show once again highlights the best in modern art, from the creations of Joan Miro to more contemporary installations by such artists as Arne Quinze and Will Cotton.
The selection of grand, brightly coloured sculptures, distorted shapes and exaggerated forms make for a thought-provoking juxtaposition with the Baur au Lac’s traditional, manicured lakefront park.
The collection – the majority of which has been created especially for the show -will include works by Joan Miró, Will Cotton, Allen Jones, Jani Leinonen, Arne Quinze, Timothy Williams and Marco Perego.
Voted ‘Top Hotel in Zurich’ in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2011 Gold List, the 120-room hotel is a short walk from Zurich’s world-famous Bahnhofstrasse, the central Paradeplatz, Lake Zurich and the city’s bustling financial district. The hotel, which dates back to 1844, recently completed an approximately $41 million renovation, revamping its Pavillon and Rive Gauche Terrasse restaurants as well as various rooms and suites. It is also home to Rive Gauche restaurant, a local hot spot.
