Hotelier India recently posted a poll asking its readers if the Indian hospitality industry was ready to service the Commonwealth Games 2010.
The question that has been making national headlines these days saw netizens polling in huge numbers. Interestingly, an overwhelming 71% felt that things always come together in the end. They felt that the hotel industry was more than prepared to take up the challenge.
These opinions are further strengthened by the fact that hoteliers are doing their best to live up to the mighty task at hand.
Infact Hotel Leelaventure has just announced that with about 150 rooms and a couple of restaurants they will be ready before the Commonwealth Games.
As the Oberoi Group’s president Liam Lambert had said in an interview to hotelierindia.com, “Doing it right, controlling security, making sure everybody had a nice time, would position India as a safe and fun place to go to in the eyes of the world”.
However 14 % of the readers still felt that the games were going to be a total flop and will only damage India’s reputation in the global markets.
Only time will tell how India and it’s hospitality industry fares during the commonwealth games.
