Last word in luxury

(NULL)

No expense or attention to detail has been spared in attempting to make this the last word in luxury.

Following the design strategy of Trident Bandra Kurla Mumbai, The Oberoi Mumbai too experiments with colour in its interiors, rather than the stark whiteness one has come to typically associate with hotel rooms.
The splashes of colour, be it in the armchair, bed cushions or works of art, beautifully complement the large bay window that gives a sweeping view of the sea. All the furniture has been custom-made for the hotel, sourced from New Delhi; the petradura marble tabletops are specially commissioned from Agra, while the mother-of-pearl inlay work on the cabinets is from Indonesia.

Each guest room carries works of art by two Indian artists, Mrinmoy Barua andVipul Kumar. The suites have antique black-and-white lithographs in the living room, donated from PRS Oberoi’s personal collection.

The floors are of engineered oak wood, sourced from Thailand. Most of the upholstery is silk, while the carpets are hand tufted

The bath spaces are a major improvement on their earlier avatar. They are glass-enclosed to provide a seamless blending of the bedroom with the bathroom, with privacy blinds in place for those who wish it. All fittings have been imported from the Japanese company, Toto; the Presidential Suites have a special mechanical water closet, complete with remote control.

Great care has gone into the choice of linen; the sheets are 300-thread count cotton, while the duvets are filled with 100% duck down, as goose down gets too warm and is therefore unsuitable for the Mumbai climate.

Colour me red

Woody overtones
The Thai oak wood floors impart a feeling of warmth and cosiness to the room, offset by the hand tufted carpets in neutral tones

Light and space
The bath space is glass enclosed, which allows natural light to pour in while giving a seamless blend to the room. A wooden paneled roof overhead gives the bathroom a classy look
