A team of three Swiss students from the EHL Hospitality Business School, Lausanne, Switzerland (EHL), participated in a cycle tour covering 2,266 km from Delhi to Chennai to promote education and hospitality. The charity aims to offer education and document the hospitable Indian culture all along the way.
India Tour collaborated with Project Parvaah, whose motive is to raise maximum funds for project ‘Saksham’. Under this project, the aim is to transform the lives of young underprivileged children/ street children.
This initiative will empower a generation of future thinkers, innovators and leaders and provide them with an impeccable opportunity to upskill themselves from the comfort of their homes by investing in technologies such as an internet connection, projectors, and computers. The proposed curricula are also more modern than the traditional methods, with a better emphasis on active learning and self-development, to help underprivileged children reach their true potential and become successful in their professional lives.
The team will be led by Dmitri Lazareff, an EHL student along with Lionel Glauser, Chef at EHL , and Aster Skane, Operational Manager. The 15-day tour started on 1st February from Taj Palace, New Delhi and will be covering places including Agra, Bhopal, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Hampi, Bengaluru, Madurai, concluding at Chennai. The cyclists plan to ride 160 kilometres each day, covering a total track of 2,266 kilometres. The entire tour will be documented and shared on Social Media platforms helping to connect India with the young population of Switzerland and the rest of Europe.
Dmitri Lazareff, Project Leader, said, “After cycling from Lausanne to Paris for charity this past summer, I decided to work on a bigger and even more meaningful project. We heard a lot about how beautifully diverse and hospitable India is. It is a great opportunity to witness the culture of a noble cause and promote education and hospitality. It is a real opportunity to connect India with Switzerland in a heartfelt, on-the-spot, sincere manner, with young people eager to discover the beauties of India and to share it worldwide.”
The key sponsor of the campaign is VET by EHL and Decathlon Lausanne-Bussigny, and Liberty India. The Confederation of Indian Industry and other sponsors are helping the young cyclists find the right route, right people, and organisation.
