Little-known hotel tops popularity list

Pleasant Haveli, a little-known hotel in the Rajasthani city of Jaiselmer has beaten leading hotel brands in India to top the popularity charts on tripadvisor.com. 

Yesterday, the hotel saw 100% positive reviews by people from Pennsylvania, Florida, Tel Aviv, Sweden, Maryland, Trinidad and Faridabad.

“Everything is real time and it changes. It’s less of a snap shot, but a continual view of what the current trends are,”  Sharat Dhall, CEO-India, Tripadvisor told TGI.

Users judge hotels on value, rooms, location, cleanliness, service and sleep quality on a scale of one to five.The haveli, a budget accommodation, is done up in traditional Rajasthani style with listed tariff ranging from $40 to $55 per night.

“The staff is incredible, especially the hotel’s owner Singh the King,” said a reviewer from Tel Aviv, while another called it “the India experience everyone is looking for.”
