D Y Patil Deemed to be University, School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies, embarked on a momentous journey by signing a much-awaited MOU with Marriott India. This is the first MOU to be signed by an international hotel chain with a University from Maharashtra.
The event was graced by the following distinguished guests from Marriott International including Neeraj Govil – Senior Vice President – South Asia, Gurmeet Singh, Senior Director HR and Rimal DSilva – Director, Human Resources.
This elite team was accorded a traditional welcome by the students of School of Hospitality. The event started with the lighting of the lamp.
This was followed by inaugural address and introduction of the dignitaries. Neeraj Govil spoke about how glad the Marriott India team is to sign this MOU with an educational institute for the betterment of young hospitality professionals who are tomorrow’s budding Hoteliers. He said a company like Marriott with hospitality as its core will always strive to engage with Hospitality Education Institutes to provide students with the right kind of guidance and mentorship that is required from the Industry.
“Hospitality Educational Institutes are today developing the right kind of infrastructure and are involved in forming the foundation for the students and that is where the industry can step in to support by helping conduct guest lectures, hotel visits, internships, Faculty Development Programs and many more such fruitful engaging activities,” Govil added.
Commenting on the ocassion, Dr. Vijay D Patil, President of D Y Patil University said, “This MOU lays the foundation to a long-term relationship with the stalwart Marriott India and portends a plethora of opportunities for our students. They can look forward to rubbing shoulders with the high and mighty of the service industry, learning good practices, cutting their teeth on state-of-the-art technologies used at the aforementioned facility, gaining industry-specific exposure and more. Today, with the signing of the aforementioned MOU, D Y Patil Deemed to be University, School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies and Marriott India have embarked upon one such propitious journey.”
