The International Council of Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) has bestowed Sanjay Sethi, MD & CEO of Chalet Hotels Limited, with the ‘Best Professional – Hospitality’ title. Over the last 18 years, the platform has been recognising individuals and organizations that have excelled and / or are involved in the promotion of tourism from different sectors of the travel trade such as aviation, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, destinations, government bodies, tourism ministries and other service provider(s) related directly or indirectly to the industry.
Sethi was selected by a jury comprising PATWA members, officials and mystery travelers, who judged the shortlisted names that met the necessary criteria. The nominees were evaluated on various pre-set standards with an extensive audit.
Speaking on the ocassion, Sethi said, “I feel honored to receive this award and thank the jury and the entire team at PATWA. This award validates the several initiatives and work done towards the progress of the Indian hospitality industry and encourages us to strive for more. I stand committed to making progressive transformation, together with my peers and the industry, to benefit the industry and society at large. ”
An IHM Pusa Alumni, Sethi leads the hospitality business at Chalet Hotels Ltd., which he successfully listed on the Indian bourses in February 2019. He spearheads a strong portfolio of upscale and luxury hotels across key markets in India. Mr. Sethi has, over his 3-decade career worked on some prominent brands like The Taj Group and worn the entrepreneur hat with the Berggruen Hotels Ltd. building its brand of Keys Hotels and Resorts.
Some other notable achievements of Sethi include being elected to the Executive Committee of the Hotel Association of India (HAI). He is also on the Real Estate Committee of FICCI working with the team towards formulation of industry impacting policies. Sethi is also a special invitee to the Executive Committee of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI). In December 2019, Sethi was conferred upon the prestigious Hall of Fame Award by Hotelier India.
