Coronavirus outbreak leads to postponement of the much-awaited hospitality conference HICSA to July 2020

South Asian region’s most sought after hospitality event, Hotel Investment Conference – South Asia (HICSA) has announced the postponement of its 16th edition. The rescheduling of the most-awaited hospitality event comes in the wake as a precautionary measure to avoid the further spread of the on-going crisis prompted by novel Coronavirus. As per the revision, the event which is originally scheduled to be held on 1st and 2nd April 2020 at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai will now be conducted on 22nd to 23rd July 2020.

Manav Thadani, Chairperson of HICSA Conference made an official public announcement on the further rescheduling of the event. In a public release, he said, “The evolving dynamics of the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has us all deeply concerned. It is in this context that we at Hotelivate have, after much thought and deliberation with other industry leaders, decided to postpone HICSA 2020 to July 22nd and July 23rd. The venue, for now, shall remain the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. We are extremely disappointed in making this announcement; however, we have been closely monitoring this continually developing situation and believe this decision should be made in a clear and timely manner.”

Over the years, the unrivalled platform of HICSA has been valued for its networking opportunities and content-rich sessions. The keynote speeches, stage interviews and engaging panel discussions moderated by industry stalwarts and experts have made HICSA an unmissable appointment for top management, hotel owners, bankers, developers and professional advisors from around the globe.

The notable speakers confirmed or invited to HICSA 2020 include Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet, Christopher J Nasseta, President and CEO, Hilton, Dimitris Manikis, President and MD – EMEA, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Federico J González, President and CEO, Radisson Hospitality AB, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO, IHCL, Radha Arora, President, Rosewood Hotel Group and Marc Steinmeyer, Founder, Tauzia hotels, to name a few.

So far, the deadly COVID-19 has infected more than 90,000 people worldwide and has spread its wing to 78 countries. As new cases of Coronavirus are detected every day, major tourists spots, events and airlines have either been cancelled, rescheduled and in worst cases have terminated their services.
