CBTL turning to hotels for 35 outlets by 2013

In India, American restaurant chain Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is looking to work with hotels as part of its plan to achieve its 2013 target of 35 outlets.

Master franchised to Mumbai-based Blue Foods for the sub-continent, CBTL opened its fifth Indian outlet and third in Mumbai yesterday. Saket, NCR was the first location and is soon to get another outlet, while Blue Foods is scouting for locations in Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai.

“We would like to explore the option of a hotel implant. We have outlets in hotels in other countries as it is a viable option,” said Arun Chopra, head – operations, Pan India Food Solutions, which is part of the Blue Foods family.

Since Blue Foods services its various brands with a central kitchen, Chopra says he can best serve hotels in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune and Bengaluru.

In India, CBTL is working in three models; high-street, mall kiosk and a kiosk in an office complex.
