Conrad Bengaluru invigorates the spirit of Never Just Stay, Stay Inspired slogan into the heart of the Silicon Valley of India on the 29th Nov 2020 with a bike ride initiative with Silent Expedition members and Harley owners group with the cause “We Hear You”.
Hearing loss and deafness can often be debilitating in the professional world, but Bengaluru art teacher Archana Timmaraju, is passionate about motorcycling and has undertaken various expeditions to raise awareness about sign language and deaf women’s empowerment.
Archana is also the co-founder of an NGO called Silent Expeditions for bikers with an emphasis on those with disabilities. Together with more than fifty Harley Owners Group Bike riders, Conrad Bengaluru supported this cause.
Commenting on the occasion, Srijan Vadhera, General Manager, Conrad Bengaluru said, “At Hilton, our corporate responsibility strategy revolves around the ‘Travel with Purpose’ initiative. It plays an integral role in uniting our vision ‘to fill the earth with the light & warmth of our hospitality’ with global issues that connect the business to our society. In view of world disability day on 3rd December it was our small initiative to support Archana in her journey to fulfilling her vision of creating a platform for disabled women riders and travelers from national and international backgrounds to showcase their potential. This could not have been done without the support of Shirley George, Director- Tusker HOG Bangalore. It was a time of joining hands together with our friends and being their voice.”
The event was flagged off at Conrad Bengaluru and was followed by a short ride of 5km within the city center and back to the hotel premises. All the proceeds from this event were given to the Silent Expedition members. The hotel sponsored masks for all the members with the tag line “We Hear You”. The purpose of the ride was to enliven and support the deaf riders with the equal opportunities that our government bodies could provide.
