Successfully coached 33 executives in first batch of leadership training
India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), a hospitality company under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Air India to upgrade the skills and knowledge base of the latter’s senior executives and cabin crew in the hospitality and service industry a couple of months ago. Subsequently, Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management (AIH&TM) imparted a five-day training on ‘Leadership Excellence’ from 11th to 15th July 2017 for the first batch of Air India’s senior executives at Hotel Samrat, Delhi. The topics included in this programme included leadership, management, tendering, noting, drafting, official communications, and memorandum etc. followed by an assessment of the learning through questionnaire.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Piyush Tiwari, officiating CMD and director commercial and marketing, ITDC said, “We are grateful to Air India and its CMD, Ashwani Lohani, for their faith in our expertise in hospitality training and management. Our AIHTM team specially designed a curriculum for Air India employees in consultation with their management. We are going to plan more programs in the coming quarters for enforcing strength and leadership quality in other organisations as well.”
Appreciating the role of Air India and ITDC in promoting tourism and related services in India and globally, Ashwani Lohani, CMD, Air India said, “That these are two of the most efficient organisations in their respective fields and have huge potential to grow.”
Air India’s In-flight Service Department proposed a ‘corporate development programme’ to obtain a greater world view of the hospitality and service industry to prepare its in-flight corporate cadre for specialised talent such as management skills, hospitality administration and product development. ITDC agreed to provide its expertise in developing the curriculum for the course enabling executives to cope up with the new trends emerging in the hospitality sector.
Accordingly, two courses were conducted for the executives:
• Keyman Corporate Management programme for 5 days
• Executive Management programme for three days
