Hotel rates skyrocket to Rs 2 lakh plus per night in Ahmedabad

While airfares to the host city have hit the root, hotel rates are seeing an unprecedented high

58% of Indians dream to watch ICC Men’s T20 World Cup cricket match live: Booking.com report

World Cup finals in Ahmedabad at Narendra Modi Stadium is going to be the venue of the day today, with India taking on Australia. And quite literally, looks like the world is going to be there.

While airfares to the host city have hit the root, hotel rates are seeing an unprecedented high. Online booking platforms such as Booking.com, Makemytrip.com and Agoda show five-star hotel rates – Taj, Hyatt, Hilton, Hyatt, Lemon Tree, ITC etc – for 19th November anywhere between Rs 50,000 and Rs 2.25 lakh.

Even non-star hotels have upped their rates by five-seven times.

Incidentally, the whopping surge in rates per night are 10 times more the normal rates. And people from countries like Dubai and Australia, apart from cities across India, are supposedly the spectators at the stadium.

The local administration is apparently gearing up with tight security measures, particularly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to be in attendance.
