Masterchef Sanjeev Kapoor’s name has been included amongst the list of Padma Shri Awardees recipients for 2017. This is the nation’s highest civilian award, and Kapoor is receiving this recognition for his culinary contributions to the country and for putting India on the world’s culinary map. The other Padma Shri winners include cricketer Virat Kohli, gymnast Dipa Karmarkar, wrestler Deepa Malik and singer Kailash Kher.
In the past, Kapoor was feted with honours like the ‘Best Executive Chef of India Award’ by H&FS and the ‘Mercury Gold Award’ at Geneva, Switzerland by the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations. He is a well-known TV host, author, restaurateur and brand ambassador for many companies. Kapoor launched his own TV channel, Food Food, in 2011, which aired the popular show, Khana Khazana. He also runs a chain of restaurants, Yellow Chilli, in India and internationally.
Recently, Kapoor was one of the jurists of 8th Hotelier India Awards and played a key role in recognising and rewarding the best talents in the country’s hospitality business
