Designed by Ar. Manav Dangg, Principal Architect, Studio Dangg, Baardos La Citta is a fine dining venue that is weaved into the urban fabric city of Delhi, India. The design identity being inconsequential to its surroundings, creates an ecosystem within, to disconnect its users from the outside world.

Experience serenity

With the limited elements surrounding the site, This 8000 sq. ft. worth of space mimics the inward-looking dome and successfully diverts the user’s eye from the crummy view. The users experience indoor serenity through the menu, which offers exquisite food, some refreshing greenery, cascading waterfall, and subtle natural sunlight.

Roman ethos

Taking over the Roman ethos, Baardos uses the atrium to catch hold of the view of its diner. The grandiosity of the plaza is envisioned by artistic elements such as high arches, columns, mouldings and colonnades, all of which are dressed up by natural light.

A façade to remember

The monumental façade is surrounded by a glided golden ribbon staircase which gives an opulent experience to the ones entering.

Crafting an interior Roman city experience

Each floor of this fine dining restaurant creates numerous experiences. It gives a beautiful visualisation of a Roman city by the day, radiating with sunlight which mutates itself into a spirited comissatio (Drinking party) by the night. The homogenous features embedded into the space calm in down in contrast to its materials which gives the design a visual dynamism. A subtle blend of deeper hues, raw chipped surfaces and leather-finished stones makes it a perfect space for the night.

DJ as the pope- the focal point here.

The floor tentatively transpires into a bar that serves exquisite beverages over boulder rocks perfected to be cuboids. The design narrative was to use the position of the DJ as the pope- the focal point here, placing him/her on a floating bridge. This was directly compared to the “papal’s audience” in Rome. Placed at 24th ft high, this element acts as a datum with a waterfall as its backdrop which leaves the audience mesmerised. A perfect roman nostalgia is created by the randomness of 80 such stones, outlined with gold metal.

The unspoken connection

The seamless connection of indoor and outdoor flows through the terrace level imitating the elevation of a roman villa having a private backyard. The high tables resemble a cabana which is encompassed in natural vegetation and calming water bodies.

The design has a keen eye for craftsmanship, a strong colossal influence of roman architecture and delicate materials, Baardos La Citta is a modern-day monument in its way.
