The Bijapur boutique jungle lodge has completed its first year. Tucked away in Jawai, this tastefully designed space offers several holistic experiences to help guests connect with the surroundings. Amidst the prehistoric landscape of granite rock formations, where the leopards tread freely, they can cohabite alongside the local tribal communities.
The location of the lodge was decided to offer access to most of the Jawai Leopard hills within just a 10-minute drive, along with unexplored water reservoirs with great bird life.
With six rooms that have elements of the local flora and fauna, an outdoor pool overlooking the rustic terrains, the lodge offers an escape from the city’s hustle and noises. The lodge is built to blend nature into the architecture, over more than 5 acres of land dedicated to six plush rooms.
Keeping in line with the local sentiments and respecting the ecosystem around, the property indulges in sustainable practices like rain water harvesting, solar power, farm-to-fork experiences from the in-house organic farm and also employs local tribes thus creating opportunities for work and comfortable living. The raw materials for all the wooden infrastructure have come from recycled wooden beams that were collected from old, demolished houses.
The lodge offers a melange of personalised, outdoor experiences like morning and evening safari, sundowners by the lake, trekking at sunrise alongside the local tribal villages, walks with the Rabari herdsmen that lets one immerse in the local culture and learn about the region, dinner by the bonfire on a rocky mountain and more opportunities to bond with nature and loved ones.
Speaking on the occasion of the lodge’s first anniversary, Vikramaditya Singh, Managing Partner, Bijapur Lodge said, “The idea to build this surreal space in the centre of Jawai’s heartland was to make a difference to the local communities and offer the modern Indian traveller an experience that’s unlike any other. We have planted more than 20000 species of plants even before laying the foundation of the lodge. We believe in giving back, to our communities and to Mother Nature. The lodge currently supports local families with education and employment. We are thrilled to have completed one year of operations and have had countless guests who have come back for that raw yet mystical jungle experience”
Highlighting the culinary philosophy of the brand, Devendra Singh Shekhawat, Managing Partner, Bijapur Lodge said, “We grow all our produce in our farm next to the lodge and we use only seasonal ingredients. Local grains, unadulterated produce and freshly prepared food ensure that our guests have wholesome meals to look forward to. We also lovingly put together picnic hampers for our guests who set out for safaris and treks.”
