Hotel Association of India meets the  Parliamentary Standing Committee

Hotel Association of India (HAI) was invited to appear before the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism & Culture, headed by Shri T.G. Venkatesh, M.P., Rajya Sabha on the 16th August 2021.

The committee heard the Association’s views/inputs on the subject ‘Distress in Tourism and Hospitality Sectors due to COVID-19 pandemic.’

The delegation of HAI was led by its President Puneet Chhatwal, MD & C.E.O, The Indian Hotels Company Limited. Other members of the delegation included Mr. K.B. Kachru, Vice President, HAI and Chairman Emeritus & Principal Advisor, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group,  M.P. Bezbaruah (Retd. IAS) & Secretary General, HAI, Dr. (Ms.) Jyotsna Suri, HAI Corporate Member and Chairperson & MD, Bharat Hotels Limited, Ajay Bakaya, MD, Sarovar Hotels Pvt. Ltd and Charulata Sukhija, Deputy Secretary General, HAI.

The Indian tourism & hospitality sector is a key pillar of the national economy and has a critical role to play in the post pandemic economic revival. HAI deeply appreciated the opportunity to apprise the august committee of the grim situation of the hospitality sector while also sharing suggestions to save livelihoods and jobs of industry workforce with the committee members.
