Lemon Tree wins ‘Best Employer’ National Award

The Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has chosen Lemon Tree Hotels for the 2011 ‘Best
Employer’ National Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. 

The award was presented by Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Mukul Wasnik, in recognition of Lemon Tree’s
philosophy of an ‘equal opportunities’ employer in keeping with its policy to ensure respect for human rights
and prevention of discrimination at the workplace.

Lemon Tree Hotels COO Rahul Pandit says, “Currently Lemon Tree Hotels employs 111 differently abled employees and intends to take this number to more than 300 i.e. 10% of our staff strength by 2013.” 

Lemon Tree Hotels SVP security, administration and people Davander Singh Tomar received the award on behalf of Lemon Tree Hotels at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on December 3, 2011, held to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Introduced in 1969 by the government of India, the national award comprises Rs. 50,000 in cash, a shield, a citation and a certificate.
