Continuing growth in the pipeline

 According to the April 2012 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report, New Delhi reported the largest expected room growth in the Asia-Pacific region if all 11,049 rooms in its total active pipeline open. This corresponds to a rise of 43.3 per cent. With an increase of over a quarter, with 4,907 rooms, Mumbai also registered impressive figures in the list of Asia-Pacific cities reporting room rate growth of more than a 20 per cent, followed by Bali (24.6 per cent with 8,403 rooms), Manila (23.6 per cent with 4,883 rooms); and Jakarta (22.6 per cent with 6,779 rooms).

By country, India put in an impressive performance with the largest expected room growth by country in STR Global’s March report, with growth of 35 per cent if all its 60,845 rooms in its total active pipeline open. Other countries to report significant expected room growth include Vietnam (27.2 per cent with 10,830 rooms in the total active pipeline), Philippines (23.9 per cent with 8,805 rooms), Indonesia (22.4 per cent with 25,156 rooms) and China (14.8 per cent with 203,216).
