Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, the hotel management and development company of Singapore-listed Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd, today announced the appointment of Abid Butt as chief executive officer (CEO).
“As our aggressive growth strategy propels the company’s portfolio forward, with a significant pipeline of projects in China, the Americas, Europe and Southeast Asia, Abid’s knowledge and expertise in hotel operations and infrastructure will be invaluable,” said executive chairman Ho Kwon Ping.
Butt previously worked as the area GM for the group’s flagship resort, Banyan Tree Phuket. He was then appointed vice-president of operations, where he oversaw branding for existing hotels and resorts and the launch of new properties. In his most recent position, Butt was the vice-president for asset management at Host Hotels & Resorts in the United States.
“I am delighted to return to the Banyan Tree family and participate in the company’s dynamic growth and development,” said Butt. “I will be focused on strategic initiatives for the 30 hotels in our current portfolio, along with the successful launch of future projects around the world.”
