Kerala is Asia’s number two travel destination

Kerala’s hill-station Munnar has made it to the number two spot on TripAdvisor’s 2010 Traveler’s Choice Destination awards, which ranks the best tourist destinations.

Tokyo emerged as the number one choice, followed by Munnar and Siem Reap in third place.

“Millions of travelers rely on TripAdvisor for travel inspiration,” Kerala Tourism secretary Dr Venu told OneIndia.in. “We are thrilled and humbled that Munnar has been honored by travellers this year.

“The TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards are particularly meaningful, as they are determined by real travelers,” he added.

The winners were determined by a combination of travellers’ destination comments, favourite places, and overall destination popularity on TripAdvisor.

In addition to Munnar, eight other Indian destinations made it to the top 25 Asian destination choice list, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (6th), Manali (7th), Hampi (8th), Goa (9th), Udaipur (12th), Gangtok (19th), Bengaluru (20th) and Dharamsala (22nd).
