ITC Welcomgroup has appointed Ranvir Bhandari as vice president north and general manager of ITC Maurya in New Delhi. Bhandari joined the group in 2002 as area manager East and general manager of ITC Sonar in Kolkata.
Under his leadership, ITC Sonar became the first hotel in the world to successfully register the CDM Project under UNFCCC and get carbon credits for energy efficiency.
The property was awarded a five-star rating by the British Safety Council for Environment Management Sustainability 2007 and subsequently became the first hotel in the world to get a five-star rating on environment from them.
Bhandari started his career with the Oberoi Group. He also holds a post graduate diploma from L’Ecole Hoteliere from Switzerland and Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland.
Bhandari serves on various national committees such as ICC as the chairman of Young Leaders Forum, BCCI as co-chairman, perceptions sub-committee and chairman, entertainment sub-committee and CII as chairman tourism sub-committee.
