‘Yu’ introduces six SKUs across two instant meal bowl categories

Homegrown consumer foods brand Yu has crafted a range of Instant Meal Bowls with zero preservatives, additives, artificial flavourings or colours. Developed using advanced lyophilization technology the meal bowls comprise chef-curated artisan recipes and natural ingredients. This helps the food to retain its original taste and aroma while offering a non-refrigerated shelf life of 12 months.

Yu provides all-day meal options that cover breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert bowls. The brand has introduced six SKUs across two product categories – Whole Grain Fruit & Nut Oat Bowls (Berry Apple Cinnamon, Banana Caramel, Peanut Butter Berry flavours) and Wholesome Pasta Bowls (Chunky Tomato, Three Cheese, Peri Peri flavours). This will soon be followed by traditional Halwa Bowls (Moong Dal, Gajar and Multigrain variants) for dessert.

Yu’s products can be enjoyed by simply adding hot water and allowing the product to rest for three to four thereafter. It is priced between INR 75 to 95 per bowl. The ‘clean-label’ consumer foods brand is also adopting sustainable practices by using eco-friendly paper packaging for all its products.

These instant meal bowls are available across major retailers in Delhi NCR, Gurgaon and South Delhi, the company’s website and other e-commerce platforms. Bharat Bhalla and Varun Kapur, two serial investment professionals, started Yu after experimenting with various food technologies. They identified a significantly advanced bio-chemistry process used in the 2020 NASA Space X mission. What started in a 12 ft by 8 ft R&D facility with a small lab-scale equipment in mid-2020, has now culminated into a fully integrated 12,000 sq ft advanced, state-of-art, commercial scale food-lab in Gurgaon, India.

Sharing their excitement on the official launch, Bharat Bhalla and Varun Kapur jointly expressed, “We fully recognize the current sentiment of consumers being conscious about their health, dietary intake and nutrition in the foods they consume. We hope to capture a large cross-section of consumers by introducing a wide range of meal bowl options appealing to the palette and needs of one and all.”
