Grand Bhagwati to open hotel in Surat next month

The Grand Bhagwati Hotels (TGB) plans on opening its flagship property in Surat this July.

With an investment of INR200-crore, the company claims the hotel will be the largest five-star in Gujarat, at 6 lakh square feet. Further, the hotel also boasts of India’s largest convention centre with more than 1 lakh square feet of pillar-less convention space, ballrooms, banquets and decorated conference rooms.

In another first, TGB Surat will be the first pure vegetarian five-star deluxe hotel in the world. Said Narendra Somani, CMD, TGB Group: “Good hotels who serve only vegetarian food do well in pilgrimage places, although they may not be of five-star category.” TGB wants to rule the roost through the F&B front. Added Somani: “While in most hotels, 75% of revenue is generated through rooms and 25% through F&B, it will be just the reverse for us.”

The group is in expansion mode, with hotels planned for Vadodara, Nagpur, Pune, Hyderabad, Indore, Nadiad, Mumbai and Bengaluru, most of which will be under management contracts.
